Hmmm, now how many different pure death metal bands can you mention from Germany? All the metal encyclopedias out there ought to know, but for the rest of us that question is quite perplexing. That is because if the truth be known there are absolutely shit all death bands from Germany, and more to the point finding a decent band amongst shit all bands is quite a tricky task.
However we needn't look at mediocrity anymore folks, Fall of Serenity courtesy of Voice of Life Records have come to our rescue and provided a decent slab of death metal.
Fall of Serenity hail from a historical school of thought in terms of their brand of death. References here include Entombed and Dismember (from which they do a great rendition of 'Casket Garden'). But do not be fooled into thinking that Fall of Serenity are a rip-off band out to get your hard earned dollars with their cheap death metal tricks. While Fall of Serenity are able to provide some nostalgic journeys with their riffs, luckily they also have enough innovation of their own to paint a modern spin on things and keep their shit updated and current enough to be interesting today.
Bottom Line: The best way I can describe Fall of Serenity is pure old school death metal with a few nuts and bolts attached i.e. death metal with a cherry on top. Enjoy folks.
