AT THE GATES Debuts Video for 'The Mirror Black'

At The Gate

Today, Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES are debuting a video clip for the track 'The Mirror Black' featuring guest vocals by Rob Miller (Amebix, Tau Cross). In addition to the 7" EP, The Mirror Black, the band also released the Digital EP, With The Pantheons Blind.

Tomas Lindberg comments about the release. "When we decided that we wanted to release the two Rob Miller tracks on a separate 7", we felt that 'The Mirror Black' was worthy of its own video. Costin was already excited about the idea, and I explained the basic outlines of the idea of the song. Working with Costin always brings in another dimension to our music and my lyrics; so he did his own interpretation of the main theme of the song. I am super happy with the result, I really think that this is one of the best videos AT THE GATES have ever done. There are a lot of hidden meanings and other symbolism in this clip, so you can watch it many times and still find new stuff. We as a band are super excited about this release!"

AT THE GATES Reveals Video for 'Daggers Of Black Haze'

At The Gates

Gothenburg-based melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES continue to pre-promote their upcoming new studio album To Drink From The Night Itself, Out May 18th, 2018 via Century Media Records, by launching its newest single and video clip for the song 'Daggers Of Black Haze'.

AT THE GATES frontman Tomas Lindberg comments: "'Daggers of Black Haze' represents the more progressive side of the new record. It has a lot of reference-points to our early back catalogue, both style wise, and the emotional setting. It is desperate and urgent, but still melancholic and epic. It is conceptually one of the cornerstones of the album. Driving home the point of the need for a war on apathy and the populistic forces that takes advantage of it. This is a fight against the abyss. A beacon for the importance of real art, real forms of expression, and importance of our understanding of our mutual cultural history. The video was filmed by Costin Chioreanu once again, and it is full of symbolism and heavy on the conceptual side. Costin displays the war for art and the importance of standing up to the oppressive powers and paradigms with his film. It is beautiful, striking, melancholic and I am very happy to see his vision of my concept."

AT THE GATES Premiered Video for Title Track 'To Drink From The Night Itself'

At The Gates

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have premiered official video for the title track 'To Drink From The Night Itself'. New record is scheduled for May 18th, 2018 release via Century Media Records.

AT THE GATES frontman Tomas Lindberg checked in to comment about the track: "So, for the first song to present to the public, we chose the title track of the album. Which is also the opening track of the record. To us, this gives a presentation of the attitude of the album: raw, hungry and desperate. It also gives an introduction to the whole concept of the record. We live through our art, and the whole album deals with the concept of art. Art as a tool either for revolution, or suppression. To drink from the night itself is just that, a metaphor for living and breathing through art. Of course the concept goes deeper than that, but this song is the heart of the concept, the fierce call to arms so to say. We are still at war, but this time we are fighting the abyss, the abyss of apathy and oppression. It is an aggressive song, but also contains a lot of the other elements of the bandīs sound on this record. Melancholia, desperation and struggle. For the first video we chose to use Patric Ullaeus again, as he is good at capturing the raw energy of the band playing live. In the video you can also see glimpses of the art used for the cover, so it binds it all together nicely. Enjoy."

AT THE GATES Post New Video Clip for 'The Night Eternal'

at the gates

AT THE GATES have launched a promotional video clip, this time for the special album-closing song The Night Eternal. Once again created by Costin Chioreanu, who was responsible for the challenging artwork concept of At War With Reality as well as the creation of the animated video for the song Heroes And Tombs and the live-footage clip for The Book Of Sand (The Abomination), this video features his most in-depth and challenging animation work so far.

The band commented the following: "The Night Eternal" is one of the absolute strongest and also emotionally challenging songs on the new record. It is a personal favourite and always gives us an enormous touching feedback when we play it live. Therefore it was a no-brainer for us to choose this song when Costin approached us about the idea of another animated video. This time he has, once again, stunned us with his amazing efforts to portray the emotional aspects of the music and lyrics of our songs. His interpretation of our material has always inspired us to rethink and re-evaluate our own creations, and therefore something new comes out of the project every time he is involved." - Tomas Lindberg & At The Gates, November 2015

Costin Chioreanu adds: "The story of "The Night Eternal" speaks about the dark side of human nature and about the tragedy of living now, in a moment when any possible tool for hiding it becomes futile. The Night Eternal is in us, The Night Eternal is what we became, guiding our spiritual evolution using a wrong map, provided by a wrong society. The victim remains lost in a dream of constant need without any perspective of fulfillment."

AT THE GATES Launches Video for 'The Book Of Sand (The Abomination)'

at the gates

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES continue to make waves with their highly acclaimed comeback album, At War With Reality, released at the end of last year via Century Media Records. Now, AT THE GATES are debuting a promotional video for the song "The Book Of Sand (The Abomination)", created by Costin Chioreanu, who was already responsible for the challenging artwork concept of At War With Reality, as well as the creation of the animated video for the song "Heroes And Tombs". "The Book Of Sand (The Abomination)" is also composed by live-footage shot at the recent Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania on August 15th, 2015.

Anders Björler/AT THE GATES comments:
"'The Book Of Sand (The Abomination)' was filmed by our dear friend Costin Chioreanu and his team at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania, August 2015. Costin has been a huge part of 'At War With Reality' every step of the way. He did the magnificent album art & artwork as well as the impressive animated video for 'Heroes And Tombs'. Now, he captures the magic of our visit in Romania a couple of weeks ago. A festival situated on the grounds of Transylvania. 'The Book Of Sand (The Abomination)' was actually the first song written for the new album and contains elements from our entire musical history. Enjoy the brand new video from Costin!!"
