Bands doing covers are always something that is fun but sometimes it makes me cringe and want to hide as well. As a musician, I have done covers - many, many covers - but never have I done it to the extent like the Turkish Based named Y.O.C. This band really does seem to be making it a career.

Headed by a man named Yoc (hence the name), this band is known more for its eclectic mix of Classic and more obscure metal covers rather than making their own brand of original music. They seem to live for paying respect to all of the bands that have made a big impact on them... and not just musically either.

Y.O.C has offered up seven covers for our enjoyment. From Flotsam And Jetsam to classics like Iron Maiden and Metallica. They show their love of the classics. They do not do too bad with Flotsam’s 'Monster', but the slower and dumbed down 'Battery' by Metallica makes me shake my head - as this song does not even have the feel it needed. Not to mentioned the butchered version of 'Blitzkrieg(Original Version)' with some crappy keyboard parts that makes me run and hide. Added into this shit is the bad production and Yoc’s voice being flat and monotone without any melody attached to it- these covers fall flat and are just badly played, and nver once does justice to the acts the band is trying to pay tribute to.

I have not heard any of the original material of Y.O.C, but if this is any indication of what that might turn out to be the band needs to rethink a whole lot of shit and fast. Covering songs are good, doing really bad covers are not. You can make covers that reflect yourself and show your love for the music, with Y.O.C they need to step away from the mirror, the reflection is not a good one.
