The timing could not have been better for Unmoored. While many of our beloved melodic death metal bands are softening up, Unmoored bring back the glory days of Edge of Sanity and Hypocrisy while adding their own brutal delivery to the mix. The result is Indefinite Soul-Extension, the band's third effort, an album destined to make Unmoored a household name.

Christian Älvestam is one of metal's most talented vocalists. His screams rival that of Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt while his clean voice are nothing short of divine. The keyboards are kept at tasteful levels, but when do take their occasional turn in the spotlight, they give the music an almost black metal like quality. Indefinite Soul-Extension has some great riffs and an ample amount of death metal shredding as well. Add to that a drummer with a high proficiency in blasting and you have one lethal melodic death metal album.

The highlight of Indefinite Soul-Extension for sure is 'Phase of Revulsion.' In seven minutes this song takes you everywhere and delivers one of the most empowering clean vocal passages I have ever heard. The song is a perfect example of what makes Unmoored one of the best melodic death metal bands of the new millennium.

If you miss the days where a band could be both melodic but extremely brutal at the same time, then I urge you to buy this album. Unmoored have finally reached the level of creativity that they had been hinting at with their first two releases. With their sound now firmly in place, Unmoored are ready to take over the world. For melodic death fans, this is absolutely essential!
