Children of Bodom
are on a laser-line path for the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame, and the Trashed, Lost and Strung-Out EP
is a perfect piece of evidence to show why they belong there. Normally I find EPs to contain not enough good material to really be worth anyone’s time, but this disc warrants no such dismissal.
The opening and title track is without reproach. This is Bodom at their best. I can’t wait to see this song live with a good five beers in my tank and one in my hand. It’s followed up with “Knuckleduster,” another ass beating of a Bodom track, reminding me of the power behind their last single, “Six-Pounder.”
One of the best things about CoB is their lack of closeting when it comes to music likes; covers of the lyrically cheese-whiz coated but rocking tracks “Bed of Nails” by Alice Cooper
and “She is Beautiful” by Andrew W. K.
are better-than-the-original bags of fun that will allow even the hardened metalhead to lighten up a little. This disc is a great time all around and a perfect way to tie down your thirst until the next full length arrives.
