Mystic Prophecy plays power metal with many classic and thrash influences. But keep in mind that this is no happy power metal ala Stratovarius, Edguy and the likes; this is darker and heavier stuff.

However, If you are looking for originality you won´t find it in Never Ending. Mystic Prophecy is not an original band. They play good power metal, but somehow it doesn’t deliver that ingredient that sets the band apart from the rest. It is your old meat and potatoes that always work. Nothing more, nothing less.

In the opener, “Burning Bridges” we have a real killer. The song is heavy, fast and it lets you know you are in for a good Metal record. This song is the second favorite of mine after the deadly “Warrior of Lies,” a great, great song that is clearly above the rest of the compositions. I wish they would all have this feeling. In Never Ending you will find other good songs like “Dust of Evil,” “Wings of Eternity,” “Under a Darkened Sun” with its strange chorus and “When I’m Falling.” The problem is that the album is chock full of a lot of fillers including the title track, “Never Ending,” a pretty boring instrumental.

Mystic Prophecy is a good power metal band that can play power metal pretty well. The problem is that today you need to play incredibly well to be above the rest. Not the case for Mystic Prophecy.

Never Ending is another good release that won’t make a difference if you get it or don’t. If you decide too buy it, good, it will be fun to have. But if you decide not to buy it, you won’t miss much.
