Review by Jack on February 14, 2005.

Alias Eye couldn’t have described their music more perfectly. “Our songs merge different styles and moods ranging from rock to classical. The music draws from the combination of long instrumental passages and strong vocal hook-lines. It is our goal to take our audience on a roller coaster ride through a myriad of different emotions.”

A Different Point of You is album number two from Alias Eye and a welcome change from the overly technical nonsense that is sometimes associated with the progressive scenes. This isn’t to say that Alias Eye aren’t technical wizards (couldn’t be further from the truth), but what they successfully know how to implement is the concept of minimalism and diversity into the depths of their music. Subtle piano pieces and vibrant saxophone the next, A Different Point of You is the sort of record that makes for an exciting listen because there is so much going on and so many paths to explore. However, what really binds A Different Point of You together so tightly is that Alias Eye link so many different music styles within the progressive scene (jazz, easy-listening, rock etc, etc) together so seamlessly, and successfully blend together an album that flows so smoothly from start to finish.

Whether you are into the more subdued side of metal or a fan of progressive rock/metal there will definitely be something of interest to you in A Different Point of You.
