Review by JD on March 28, 2009.

I had been hearing whispers about this band over the web for awhile, now that I had the CD in my hands... wanted to see if Inquinok was up to the hype that I had been bombarded with for awhile now.

This Seattle based five piece band seems to have it rather altogether... playing a rather furious and intense crossover between Black and Death Metal. It is rather good what Inquinok's does, but it is really somewhat disappointing as well. They are great at what they do, but do not seem to be trying to do anything remotely close to being original here.

Inquinok have all the bases covered for their chosen path of metal glory... guttural hate-spat vocals, grinding yet blazingly fast riffs and explosive lead breaks that cut through the fury of the drums holding everything out there. It is all there yet it seems to do pretty much nothing right from the start. Most of the lead breaks feel so flat and lack any sort of inspiration to them to the point of seeming to be more like an afterthought. The dredging low bass seems to drive nothing, and was 'just there for the ride' and the drums seem average and bland.

It is an album that will be played more than just once in your collection... but never will it be grouped into a standing higher than acceptable. Don't get me wrong here...Inquinok has a good album here to give to the drooling masses of bangers out there, but at the same time the album does not stand out either.. I feel a little bit of a let down here, but that is exactly what I hear.

Inquinok has a good album out with "Immortal Dawn"... too bad that a great premise for an album seemed to be simply misplaced or just not even used, the album lives... but not in the way it could have been.
