Review by Anna on July 30, 2010.

This is the fifth album from Cales who have been around since '92, yet they remain relatively shrouded from public knowledge, including my own (which is not saying much). Some of you may recognize the two members from Root.

In a pathetic attempt to "describe" the sound in a few words, think "Celtic", "Pagan", and "Primitive" with a wide range of vocals that sound anywhere from rowdy sailor screeches to a ridiculously nasally singing that is so ballsy it easily transcends humor to pure awesomeness. This is unlike any of the "Folk Metal" bands you find these days- instead of sounding like a modern band making ancient music, it sounds like the opposite. If you're thinking this is just another drinking album, you will want to skip all the wonderfully romantic, slow songs that are presented in pure Heavy Metal bliss.

As I'm blaring this from my grandmother's portable stereo I can't help but get a very good feeling inside, thinking how wonderful it is that this honest, good music from the Eastern Bloc somehow found its way to a very lucky corner in the Far East.

Anyone who digs "Folk", "Pagan", and Heavy Metal, and Braveheart, owes it to themselves to check this out.
