After years of playing in bands, hearing hundreds and hundreds of albums and covering many, you have a tendency to become jaded once in a while. As bands seem to sound the same until one album knocks you out of your funk. My funk was broken by Hungarian Doom saviours Wall Of Sleep.

Sounding like Black Sabbath on some seriously nasty downers, Wall Of Sleep takes their amazing Doom foundation, add in some Blues textures and then heavied it up ten fold with some old school metal. Then you have a band that is pushing the whole Doom format to the next level. Heavy as lead, brutal and yet holding a true originality, they have kept to their roots and truly have brought their music into a league all of there own as they were unafraid of unleashing the tempos throughout the album.

My favorite track is 'Trapped In Sorrow". A perfect blend of their many parts and accented by musicianship that can only be described as amazing. Don’t get me wrong, the other songs are amazing as well, but it was the feel of this particular track that caught my attention and kept it there for many replays over the next few days. Talent needed a vehicle to go, as for their vehicle, it was a Lamborghini.

Gotta hand it to these Hungarian metal merchants, they have brought Doom and Stoner genres to a new and amazing height. I hope to hear Wall Of Sleep back catalogue very soon and get to know the path that this amazing band had walked before the release of "When Mountains Roar". It would be like a good book building up to a perfect ending except Wall Of Sleep has not written that chapter yet.
