MetalBite Review by JD on 3/11/2013
I had heard about this little project by Savatage vocalist Jon Oliva, guitarist Chris Caffery, King Diamond bassist Hal Patino and Lillian Axe/Dirty Looks drummer Gene Barnet awhile back, but never had the pleasure of hearing it. With it’s re-released with demo extras to sweeten the deal I have my chance to hear and admire a songwriter/singer that I always had.

It is not a real stretch to say that Jon Oliva is one of the most underrated vocalists in metal today or back in the day. His sweeping voice is explosively strong and powerful with each note and as usually instantly recognizable in the business. With the collection of musicians he had at his disposal when this was recorded one fact is clear - brilliance was made.

Tracks like the nasty 'The Altar' with its infectious hooks and the wildly exacting riffs to the wondrous power that lives and breather the song 'Lost In The Dark', one thing is perfectly clear, this is a total clinic on what it takes to make Power/Symphonic Metal into a howling beast that is cannot be ignored or passed off. How can you not make this incredible of an album with this line-up? It seems that is a done deal here.

This was a brilliant album, one that I have listened to over and over again. This was not Satavage, it is so much more. If you can find this album anywhere in this world I advise to do so as fast as possible. Love this album and just how Jon and his ‘chosen ones’ can get it done.
