I don’t think I have reviewed a band that has been from Slovakia yet but that is gonna change in the next few seconds. I have one right here to do. I have been given a band called April Weeps.

With seven members, April Weeps already got me interested, and more than ol’ Slipknot ever did. Playing what I can explain as powerful progressive metal with an injection of atmospheric doom and old school gothic metal at times to make an impressive album. Despite some major line-up changes throughout their young career – seems that they have settled on an amazing group and posed to release their brand of metal. With two outstanding singers- one acid laced male growl, the other is a soaring female not to mention a very solid group of musicians to back them - the recipe is a good one.

The band works like a well-oiled machine, as all parts meld into one and collectively comes like an iron gloved fist. Just listen to such songs like the powerful "Waiting For The Sun", the go for the throat of "Positive Energy" or the so ethereal yet heavy "Dream Master". They all are strong, well-written and brutally honest along with being majorly heavy.

I was impressed as hell, and will be looking forward to the next release from this band. I seem to not be able play this album just once, I am on my thirteenth play, and I am still finding more impressive riffs and lyrics that are the backbone of who April Weeps is and does. One listen and you will be a fan as well, it is in contention for my album of the year right now.
