Have you ever come across something that sounded like a good idea and then it turned into something horribly wrong? I have found the sonic version of that statement, and it was sounding better than what it actually was.

Hailing from Sweden, Graveyard After Graveyard is a mixture of older death metal and early thrash with less than average recording style. I hear very early Grave Digger, early Slayer mixed with the melodic side of the mighty Death coming into the music, but it all seems close to being a good combination, but it comes up no cigar.

Starting as extremely promising as this, it pains me that it Graveyard After Graveyard does not continue on with it. Aside from a few tracks that were not bad, as a whole the album fell short of expectations. Songs like "Discharge in Hell" and "Speed Metal Machine" show no real originality. It sounds like may bands already out there, and yet they continue to mimic all of their influences without adding anything to it at all to express who they are as a band and the flat recording of it all did not help one bit.

As a whole, Graveyard After Graveyard has talent, but no original vehicle to drive it home. I hope that sometime the band finds a sound all their own but as of now, I donít see that happening any time soon. I hope that I am wrong on this one and I am rooting for them to put another album out and prove me wrong. I think I will sadly be right.
