After looking at the title, you're wondering, why is that? Two reasons. First, this music is cool and refreshing. Second, it came in a thick envelope loaded with extreme music on one side and power metal on the other. "Anonymous Caesar" is relaxed in any way you look at it, or I hear it for that matter, so hopefully you'll enjoy this break too.

Five tracks lasting a total of 24:06 make up "Anonymous Caesar." The opening title track is as mellow and as catchy as the goth style can be. Excellent melodic delicacy with colorful keys and scratching guitar riffs, as well as good drumming, make up this music that is viable for any mood. Nothing too complex is involved, so it's ready to be enjoyed without having to burn too many brain cells. After all, it's summer; let's take it easy.

The vocals can also be more dramatic when a song calls for it. The songs that follow, 'Exit Mould' and 'These Old Rags,' are played life. By listening to these recordings, I'm positive that if Pale Forest really does sound like that live, I want to see them! 'Exit Mould' shows the band in great shape with the calmer piano and the heavy gothic riffing. The vocals are lovely and really give me the shivers. 'These Old Rags' has some great calm lead guitar parts that accompany to the singer with a great melody, not to mention the discrete usage of the keys. The closing song 'Stigmata' sounds a bit more folk with the acoustic guitar, mandolin, accordion (electronics, maybe), percussion and bass. The hardware was left aside, simply because this is a broken instrument version.

Also found on 'Anonymous Caesar" is a cover of Pink Floyd's 'Welcome To The Machine.' It is a fair attempt, more electronic oriented and it holds the mood of the original version, but it is missing the mystical 12 string acoustic. An exact copy is not really needed since this is a classic rock masterpiece, however.

Bottom Line: "Anonymous Caesar" is not your usual vampire bite, but a rather nice and sensual kiss on your neck with a gentle whisper in your ear. Recommended.
