Have you ever had a craving, and you wanted to do almost anything short of selling your first born to get it. I had that, a need for some uncomplicated, balls to the wall, kick ass metal, I wanted no Blackened Death, no Doom or even some explosive Speed Metal - I wanted, and needed some straight forward Metal... I think I got it...AHHHH!!

Australian Pegazus is a kick in the nuts, full bore Heavy Metal band, with a smattering of Power influences. Sounding closely like Iced Earth meeting Judas Priest and a wee bit like solo Ronnie James Dio(R.I.P.) yet they also bring this huge presence of originality - Pegazus stands alone then. There is no messing with this band, and they give you no shit or fluff - just a collection of really strong songs that are as fun as they are the root cause of a flurry of headbanging followed by a progressive need to show the horns in the air.

So many songs are great on this album, but I have to admit two tracks stands out as my favourites. Album opener 'Metal Messiah' shows the old school charm of a sonic punch to the face, one that in concert would have people singing along. The other track is the massively good cover of Judas Priest’s 'Metal Gods'... one of the few bands to do a Priest cover, and do it proud. The rest are amazing, but these two are the top ones here.

This is old school to the max, and a perfect example of how straight ahead metal is still in the mix in todays metallic landscape. Pegazus may not be well known over here in North America, but they should be. Perhaps Iced Earth should take these guys on their next world tour - this is a perfect match to bring strong and classic Heavy Metal to the masses. They are a class act.
