This is an interesting Avant-Garde style Black Metal release that shows a varied and interesting approach. Plenty of dissonant chords and off-time structures are to be found here. Hence, the album lends itself as much to Arcturus as it does to Emperor. The lead vocals of Lord recall the likes of Jon Norveidt of Dissection. All of this sounds great on paper and while the band is very good, they certainly don’t reach the best moments of those acts. The sound is solid, but not quite as razor tight as what can be found from Dissection, for example.

Still, there are many interesting riff deviations to be found throughout the length of "The Quantum Theory Of Id". This leads to a Black Metal work that has some ups and downs, but enough neat moments spruced into the mix here and there to keep things interesting overall. There are only five tracks on the album, so it’s straight to the point. The third track 'Die Welt Als Wille Und Vorstellung' is slightly offbeat and interesting in its approach, but there are several moments that are strewn throughout the disc that are oddly compelling. The performances are all quite solid on this disc and there isn’t much to fault, except for the fact that it could simply be slightly better.

The music could be longer, better produced and slightly more intricate, but it’s quite enjoyable as it is. Inquisitor has a solid foundation to build from on future albums with this album. They have good influences overall and reasonably innovative sound, so only good things can come in the future.
