Architecture Of Lust
Review by JD on May 9, 2012.
Over the years, I have looked for bands that really turn my head and make me take note, and not just the hype that some get. I look for a band that either gives me something different or simply blow me away with heaviness or brutality. From the history rich country of Italy, I think I have found my brain blown all to shit.
Antropofagus is a true, giving no shit Death Metal band that seems to have no end to handing out a bloody sonic assault. Dealing out riffs that are as lightning fast as they are pounding heavy, bulldozing bass lines that shakes concrete and a vocalist that relays every feeling in the bloody entrails laced lyrics with the utmost impunity - this band stands at the top of the Death Metal heap. After having a previous full album along with a split album and a EP - they have mastered there carnage art to pummel the world with.
With blood smeared tracks like 'Exposition Of Deformities' or the brain thrashing twisting story that is the song 'Blessing Upon My Redemption" one thing stands true and bold throughout the album - Antropofagus is one of DM’s bloodiest bands. They seem to have that certain knack for writing some of the most intensely gruesome and horror fuelled lyrics, ones that mach up with some of the masters of DM.
Comatose Records should be complemented as they have developed one of the finest Death Metal bands around. It should be noted that the recording itself, although not completely perfect, was just as big of a deal as the band themselves, as the rawness accented every note the band pounds out. This is a brilliant album from a brilliant band. The world needs to know them and hear them.
