Brooklyn, NY kvlt metal duo Throaat have been honing their art since their 2013 demo debut entitled Puke On Your Grave. Since then, they have released a live album, a split and three EPs. Reflections in Darkness is the band's first full-length and to say it packs a punch would be a huge understatement. Fans who've followed the band since its inception and have been dying for that first full length will be pleased!

It's fairly obvious from the get go that Throaat's overall sound is heavily influenced by First Wave Black Metal mixed with raw blackened thrash metal and classic heavy metal. The core of their sound is reminiscent of early Venom, Mercyful Fate and Mayhem, specifically their class album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. The album as a whole has a very energetic yet sinister feel and the way all of these genres come together is practically seamless and makes for an interesting listen.

Overall, Throaat have done a great job of drawing influences from old school extreme metal genres without it sounding forced or false. Anyone who likes their metal a bit on the raw and ugly side with great song structures will surely enjoy the hell out of this one. Reflections in Darkness is a very strong debut release!
