Progressive Metal is a complex sort of genre of metal. It can either be really good and showcase bands that are some of the very best musicians around or so full of ‘fluff’ that other metal bands will just beat the hell out of it just for sport. Poland’s ticket into this odd metallic lottery is the five piece calling themselves Division By Zero.
Bringing to the table a very interesting mix of sweeping Progressive Metal, shadings of Thrash elements and almost a King Diamond sort of vibe as well, this Polish spawned act combines these diametrically opposite forms of metal into a tank that is ready for war on poser music. With strong sense of melodies and complex rhythms that also has some viciously heavy riffs.
Songs like the title track shows the varying array of tools the band uses to make their music, while they have a heavy aspect to them. 'Wake Me Up' shows, that the progressive aspects were spawned by the need for true metal. It is this willingness to combine things and create something that is in correct balance that puts the band in a class all by themselves. A perfect balance of melody, heaviness and sheer excitement. Division By Zero is a band that is a true band in of themselves.
As a musician, I love musicality and ability of a group that strives to be the best. As a headbanger, I crave heavy and nasty music. Now I have found a band that brings me both, and I love it as well. I am in a musical Zen place. I just want to linger here for just a little while longer, raise my beer and enjoy.
