“Devil With No Name” is a name completely unknown and ignored by many, but the few who come across this material will surely appreciate the quality presented on this self-titled EP. And it is no coincidence, since behind this project is one of the musicians that I consider among the most prolific and virtuoso of modern extreme metal, being Andrew Markuszewski who gives personality to this music with his unique and particular style of composition.

Because no, this is not the typical and predictable black metal that floods the internet, but a modern approach to the style that always gives a breath of fresh air to those of us who are dedicated metal listeners in various of its aspects, and even more so after having heard Markuszewski's musical career in Lord Mantis (my favorite metal band in general) and the legendary group Avichi, with a discography worth listening to in its entirety because of its high quality.

The EP consists of only 4 songs that are a true declaration of principles, Markuszewski once again proves to be the master of sinister riffs and “groovies” while he uses his voice as rhythmic and full of hate as always. The songs also have gloomy and dark ambient arrangements, as well as memorable and catchy, with “Sycophants of the Covenant” being a clear example of the above, probably my favorite song of the entire EP along with “Monad”. The drums are one of the best things about this release, being a technical execution that is also fierce when the songs accelerate their pace, and pulsating when the tempo drops.

This EP left my expectations and hype at its highest point, leaving me intrigued if this band will continue releasing new music, since it definitely sparked a deep interest in me, immediately clicking with me, let's hope Markuszewski and company surprise us in the near future.
