This is another fine effort by the band that manages to make an impact and have a singular sound.  The music here is adventurous and thoughtful and has a great amount of innovation for the band’s progressive period.  It is a thinking man;s piece of metal and anther excellent entry to their discographjy.  Songs like the title track are addictive and memorable.

The musicianship here is certainly excellent with a keen eye for what is fresh and innovative.  The guitars and drums are powerful and vibrant.  The music here has several high points such as the esoteric track “Essence”.  There is a pretty good production job and the instruments are all fairly interesting and colourful.

The problem I’m having with this disc is that it does not have the interesting nature of Below the Lights or Isa to some extent and falls a bit flat.  It is still fairly interesting in that it has tracks like “Essence” which are hard to beat and singularly excellent.  It is still not the most interesting album in the band’s discography as that still easily goes to Axioma Ethica Odini.

In conclusion this is still one of the better albums by the band and has a couple stellar tracks to give it spice.  It is not as good as a couple of their other discs and falters a bit because it doesn’t have quite the defining trait of some of their other albums.  This was still a very fun album and one that is memorable and solid.
