Review by Carl on August 4, 2021.

In my opinion, New Standard Elite has become one of the best labels when it comes to brutal death metal. Their logo on a release is usually a seal of guarantee that you will get a hefty dose of brutality that is sure to satisfy all adherents of the genre, always gorgeously packaged with great artwork. Recently they made good on their reputation once again with releases by Metharoma, Meshum and the subject of this review, Dyskinesia.

Here we have 3 tracks of neanderthal slam death that does not waste time with melodic niceties or intricate musical acrobatics, the music is simple, straightforward and heavy as fuck. The guttural grunts collide with the driving blasts and pummeling slams, making this a near perfect blend of all things that make this sort of caveman brutal death so damn great. The entertaining samples are not annoying, and the production is dense but clear, making it all sound utterly crushing, without veering off into over-digital sounding terrain. Granted, Dyskinesia isn't in any way reinventing the guttural slamming death metal wheel here and you have heard all of this before, but it is brought with such conviction that it is near impossible to not be impressed by it. This is the perfect package of death metal brutality for all into the genre.

With a playtime well under 10 minutes, this release does not overstay it's welcome, that's for sure. It moves in for the kill right away and is over before you know what has hit you. I'm impressed by this little ditty, and I'm damn curious what the future will bring from these guys.
