Review by Adam M on February 11, 2010.

Solid traditional Doom similar to Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Trouble and a lot of the classics is to be found here. There’s a groovy aura that should be found with this type of music and it greatly present here. Even the vocalist sounds eerily similar to Ozzy, though there’s enough of a difference for him to be a unique enough presence. The album just has a solid feel as crunchy riffs take over the musical ideas. They really connect and make you move with emotional intensity.

The band definitely has an influence of classic material on their sound, but they’re able to make it their own and deliver a compelling work regardless. The music itself isn’t as depressing as some of the music you might hear from the Doom genre and generally is pretty up tempo, although the lyrical content is fairly negative. The band can become quite enchanting to listen to at times overall. They have enough energy within a fairly conservative mindset to keep things enthralling most of the time. The sound is just crisp and delivers the power necessary to make the sound come through strongly on all the tracks.

The riffs deliver a crunchiness that is very appealing and will hopefully make a lot of fans for the band. One can also see that there are some serene moments to be found. The track 'To Kill A Child' illustrates both the crunch and the calmness to a good degree and is one of the better tracks to be found on the disc. The ability to bring a crystal clear sound to the table is one of Count Raven’s biggest attributes. Overall, "Mammons War" is able to sound fresh while borrowing some elements from older material.
