Sometimes it is not easy to review an album. May I be honest? El Vuelo Del Cóndor Negro is simply a disaster. Each and every element of this so-called black metal album sucks. But good news, we are speaking only about a minimum of different elements, because the worse-than-amateurish wannabe production leaves no room for subtleties. The guitars sound, powerless and monotonous. Of course, the bass is absent – nobody expected something different. The things that rattles in the background are the drums, if I am not mistaken. All instruments seem to come to my ear from a very great distance. By contrast, the vocals stand in the centre of the mix. Too bad that they have absolutely nothing in common with a normal voice. Using all the technical means appropriate to the budget, they tried to make the singer appear as evil and unnatural as possible. This leads to the exact opposite. This unnatural, pseudo-demonic croaking exposes itself to ridicule, not only because of its unhealthy degree of verb.

The songs? Which songs do you mean? There are only weak patterns, hardly a genre-compatible melody (or a melody at all) and everybody who seeks one or two catchy parts has begun a mission impossible. The guitars play lines that make no sense, no chorus stands out and no solo or anything else deserves the attribute “good”. A very special feature is the way they bring their songs to an end. Some fade-outs are painfully awkward. Maybe the duo has the right attitude, but without any skills the result cannot convince. I really wanted to find some at least mediocre parts, but I had no chance. They tried so hard to be evil, but their noise (I am not able to call it music) does not spread any kind of emotions. A vocalist with the aura of a sick dog and deep yet feeble guitars are not enough in order to create black (death) metal.

The tracks 8 and 9 are cover songs, but even these songs sound like an acoustic accident. Sangre Negra seem to have a talent to ruin other people’s tunes – guess it is their only talent. But okay, it makes no sense to become cynical. Of course I am glad that a lot of musicians try to enrich the metal community and so I appreciate the initial impulse of this project. But it would have been great to realize that this full-length is light years away from anything we call good music. I could write more about it, but it would be more of the same. Thus, I stop here and I hope that this duo either works very hard to record a better second album or calls it a day. As much as I regret it, El Vuelo Del Cóndor Negro is nothing but a terrible waste of time.
