This album is an interesting exercise in melodic death metal that has a nice mixture of melody and complexity.  It is quite an adventurous album that has a nice balance to to it and succeeds where other melodic death metal albums fail.  It is both infectious and intricately enough constructed to be compelling.  This is a well-rounded and thoughtful work.

The musicianship is quite stellar with melody by the bucket load and a great deal of complicated portions to keep one occupied.  It is a thoughtful work as well with plenty of compelling and moving moments to be found.  The singing is also good making for a complete recording in terms of musical performances.

There aren’t many flaws to be found to the disc, though it is perhaps a bit too pristine sounding overall.  People looking for a more heroic work like Amon Amarth will be disappointed because this is more progressive in nature and makes for a really thoughtful type of disc.

To conclude, this album is very interesting and a thoughtful listen that is very intelligent for a melodic death metal release.  It is a highly compelling work that is one of the highlights of the genre.  It will forever go down as one of the band’s best albums as well.
