This is a good album that has a modern feeling to it and is a good representation of the band’s sound overall.  It is also a very streamlined work that has a lot of colourful melodies present.  There is a feeling that the band has reached a peak with the song-writing presence displayed.  There are many memorable moments like their other releases.

The musicianship is solid with good guitars and a strong presence that is very prominent in their music.  There is a good production job and it helps liven up the proceedings and make them more memorable.  The guitars are punchy and the drumming is poignant, while the singing is off-kilter, but very effective sounding.

The problem with the disc lies in how it is not as good as previous works and carries with it the problem of not having the memorable spark of previous albums.  There is a feeling that the band has exhausted their more accessible moments and are becoming slightly more complex sounding.  This is still a powerful statement and solid work.

Fans of the band’s other material will like this although it signifies a change in direction to the band.  It shows them becoming more modern and a contender for best progressive band though they could be more streamlined and memorable than they are.  This is a solid and enjoyable work that has melody and complexity.
