Review by Vladimir on October 22, 2023.

Over the years I have come across many bestial and blasphemous war metal bands, starting from Blasphemy and then going through all the other ones such as Sadistik Exekution, Bestial Warlust, Black Witchery, Impiety and others. As another fine addition to this dangerous cult, we have a band from Bangkok, Thailand called Genocidal Sodomy. For this review, I’ll be covering their self-released debut EP Bestial Quintessence which came out on January 1st, 2018. If you are by any chance a die-hard war metal fan, stay tuned.

The EP starts with a hellish intro 'Prelude To The Bestial Quintessence', which really sets the proper mood with all the loud winds and eerie whispers in the background. As the second track 'Quintessence Of Messiah Holocaust', it immediately rips the living flesh out of you with the bestial tremolo riffs, blast beats and harsh guttural vocals which sound like a beast’s scream from the depths of hell. On top of all that insatiable warlust and destruction, we even have some badass mid-tempo riffing on the third track 'Resurrection Of The Bestial Kingdom' which transition nicely between sections of bestial blast beats and tremolo picking. As a final brilliant and outstanding move, they close this EP with the cover of Black Witchery’s song 'Holocaustic Church Devastation', which was wonderfully executed and it certainly does this EP justice. When you mention bestial black/death metal or war metal to anybody, you know exactly what you’re going to get from all the blasphemous and aggressive riffs and blast beats to guttural vocals which create a perfect cacophony from hell. The band’s two own songs on this EP are pretty damn good and quite simple to get into, especially when it comes to this kind of style that has been around since the inception of bands like Blasphemy and Sadistik Exekution. The sound production is very true to the war metal style when it comes to the teeth-grinding guitar tone and banging drums, although I must say that they also did a nice job on the vocals with the added reverb that sounds as if a foul scream from a distance.

I don’t think there is anything else I could add about this EP other than the fact that it is a classic and traditional war metal from start to finish. Fans of bestial black/death metal are very simple people who want nothing more than a banging release which has some killer riffs along with blasphemous imagery and lyrics, and I believe that you are coming to the right place. So, what are you waiting for? Go and listen to it right now! Check out Genocidal Sodomy and give ‘em all the love for that bestial warlust.
