This is another album in the Arch Enemy canon and has a lot of aggression and melody simultaneously.  The songs are impactful and have a great deal of power to them.  This is a very addictive effort, but also not anything overly phenomenal for the melodic death metal genre and somewhat generic sounding.  It is fairly straightforward music that does not have enough juice to make for anything particularly special.

The musical performances are sufficient and have a great deal of character to them and this is similar to many of the band’s other albums.  The production helps give the songs some luster, but this is largely a generic effort overall.  It does not have the power of albums by some of the bigger bands in the genre like Dark Tranquillity

The downside to the album is that it is somewhat generic sounding and this leads it to being quite uninteresting and somewhat one dimensional.  There is still a lot of charisma to the songs, but they ultimately don’t hold you over enough to be overly phenomenal.  The lack of a defining aspect like the Dark Tranquillity albums have makes this somewhat weaker.

This is overall a good album, but nothing phenomenal and should be taken with a grain of salt.  The songs are too easily listened to and hold nothing overly special to them.  This is still good stuff and fans of the band will probably like it.  It is a sufficient, but not overly excellent album that has the right ingredients to satisfy.
