Review by J.C. on April 17, 2026.
Those who have read my previous music reviews should know that I have an interest in Czech melodic death metal. I found out today that this Czech band has released their first album, and since the cover artwork is very beautiful, I immediately gave it a listen.
Czech bands often have a knack for writing strong riffs, whether complex or aggressive. This album also incorporates elements of groove metal, metalcore, and progressive metal, but melodic death metal remains the dominant genre, blending Czech characteristics with broader international influences. The transitions and connections between sections in some songs reminded me of the narrative structures used by Innersphere, though with fewer dissonant intervals. At the same time, the album features many Finnish-style melodic and pleasing passages, along with numerous extended solos that bring to mind Vanguard’s excellent 2023 release.
The vocals on the album are mostly in the early Swedish Gothenburg melodic death metal style, though other approaches appear as well. On the eighth track, 'Fading Away,' there are also some clean vocals. The drums are clear and powerful, sometimes combining double kicks with more restrained beats, and occasionally skipping patterns in a way that cleverly complements the transitions. The bass occasionally emerges beneath the wall of guitars, adding extra weight to the overall sound.
Standout tracks include the second track, 'Blood Red Sky,' whose riffs are exciting and immediately grab attention; the third track, 'Aberration,' which perfectly combines complex arrangements with strong melodies; the ninth track, 'Fragile Thought,' featuring interesting riffs with slight thrash metal characteristics and a smooth, elegant chorus; and the tenth track, 'Mechanation,' which includes beautiful piano passages alongside complex, impactful riffs.
The music throughout the album is consistently strong, and it is something I will return to many times in the future. There are a few moments that feel slightly drawn out, but overall, the impression is very positive, and I look forward to hearing more from this band.
