This was a great new entry into the gothic metal genre that is really modern sounding and has an appropriate mood.  This is a really atmospheric album that has shades of their older material, but forges new paths nicely.  It is a very dark and gothic piece of work that has a gothic element that blends nicely with the material.

The musicianship is quite good with a heavy reliance on moody passages that are quite pleasant to listen to.  It is a very well-conceived album that has the right atmosphere to capture your attention.  It is very addictive and dark music that has the right mood to draw you in.  This will appeal to fans of the bands other album quite nicely.

The problem with the disc is that it is somewhat too mainstream and loses a bit when compared to other albums like Wolfheart.  It is still very emotional and has a depth to it that is commendable, but is still a bit commercial sounding regardless.  There is still not anything to make this overly interesting to fans of bands Depeche Mode.

This is still one of the better albums of recent times and highly listenable.  It is lost in a mire of superior albums of recent times, but still better than a lot of them as well.  Fans of the band will be highly impressed with the sound the band brings forth on this album.
