When does a band over steps the bounds there are between having artistic brilliance and just ending up being like a pig dressed in lipstick and some sequined dress? Dedicted walks that precarious sort of tightrope on every last song of their album Argonauts, and seemed to never waver or fall as they did travers that barrier between failure and fantastic.
Furious to a fault, Dedicted delivers crushingly heavy music heady past warp speed with musicality that cannot be ignored any. Their lyrics are more than verging on the poetic, yet have this thing of being powerful in a layman's tongue as well. They do not go for just showing off their intelligence or batter you strictly with explosive edginess, here again they just are satisfied to walk that fine line all over again with such grace and give you dynamite on a silvery disk.
Songs like 'Heretic' and 'Virgin Soil Epidemic' show that they look at the scepticalness of religions that was present in Greek history and even its own mythology as well. They center it around the great journey or 'Argo'. I really wish my history teacher from high school would be here to tell me I was wasting my time being a rocker like he always did... He would be floored by what he heard here.
After all is said about the Belgian band, nobody can really argue that they can play better than ninety percent of the bands out there and write lyrics that show that they do have some grey matter between their ears... all of that, and so much more is held in the music. Being Canadian like I am, I thought Argonauts were a football team from Toronto who are on the left side of bad... I stand corrected... very happily.
