Korog is a band from Budapest Hungary.... and they play a very extreme form of metal.. than most. So amazingly brutal to the point of drawing blood, this Hungarian five piece seem to be making a firm statement that is as blatantly bold as it is steel strong. Seems like they are satisfied just doing it their way.

I loved the music which was so damned heavy yet had an myriad amazing influences that made it totally impossible to ignore. Almost ever guitar parts rolled and weaves though the thunderous god like beats the bass and drums made... painting an amazing musical portrait with such an impressive explosion of metal...it was the lead vocals that ended up ruining the ambiance of the album right from the start.

The vocals, that which were growled and spat out like a rabid dog after a bone, was the weak spot throughout the ten songs... sounding very out-of-place. Despite the sheer brilliance that the music had in thrashing away like it did, the vocals seemed to have been recorded almost amateurishly to the point of being almost unlistenable. It was so muddied where it had been set in the mix, it really did take away from some of the sheer power the music alone had.

My advice (If it is worth anything) is that they need to find a better vocalist... rather than have a real bad death metal growler. This was just plainly bad... real bad.... but I give high marks for the musicianship though. If they do that, I think they will fulfill that statement they are trying to shout to the world.
