Valdur... even the name seems to shout that it has come from the deepest pits of Black Metal... Deliciously evil, I see it as. I dive into this Black Metal lake, which has originated from the northern California mountains.
Tight, demonically orchestrated and purely heavy... Yep, it is a Black Metal attack. The guys slam you with extremely hard sounding drum blasts that fight your frontal cortex for control, while the sawing edge of their guitars gut you like a stuffed pig. It is as uncompromising and sadistic as an acid enema.
Production could have been a little better, as some of the cool sound effects and the vocals at times becomes rather lost... but it is not that bad either. The seem to really work with the feel that they are going for, making you end up sprouting horns and willing to bow to the unholy throne.
Not for the new coming headbangers, these guys are for the solid and all consumed dark metallers out there that want to really hear a tight and very unwavering type of brutal metal. Valdur have the chops, they have the heaviness... they also have the infernal damnation of their souls as well... perfect prerequisite for what they do. Flash the horns high in the air, and enjoy the album.
