Review by Emma on June 2, 2009.

Pure, potent, and no fancy-crap, Swedish Death Metal act Maim delivers their first full length "From The Womb To The Tomb". 10 tracks of worm-riddled sound will crush all who hearken to it like the 6 feet of dirt your sad sack of flesh awaits.

Drawing influence from classics Entombed, Dismember, and Autopsy, old-school is the adjective of choice, ‘nuff said. The production is raw and bare; adding to that level of grit that made me return to this album on a number of occasions. Time flew listening to this, and I was suddenly caught on the chorus of ‘Drop Dead!’ a track that sticks. The onslaught continued to pound eardrums and induced head banging motion (i.e. ‘Carnal Feast’ which you can hear on their page), the final track ‘The Beyond’ is sprinkled with riffs of Doom. This is good. Being the mid-paced traditional stuff that it is, Maim haven’t covered any new territory here, you’ve heard it all before. But it’s hard not to like Death Metal from days of old.

"From the Womb To The Tomb" is a solid album, fans of old–school Death Metal will find this worth checking out.
