This was a very solid album that sort of introduced us to the Swedish death metal genre with it’s use of melodic and tuneful moments.  It is a very strong album in terms of its potency and has a huge effect on the listener.  There is a lot of heavy riffs and huge moments that makes this one of the premier early death metal releases.

This is still a very solid offering and has the right musicianship to win you over.  It has a very dirty feel and guitar riffs that are infectious and moving.  There is no let down in the intensity and the entire affair is very strong and abrasive sounding.  The vocals are also suitably harsh and fit over the music nicely.

The problem I’m having with the disc is that it was already beaten by the album Entombed – Left Hand Path.  It is a very strong album still and has the makings of a genre classic with its massive riffs and huge impact.

The overall impression I’m having with the album is that it is really good and one of the more notable ones from the era it was created in.  Fans of albums like the aforementioned Entombed opus will like it as will those looking for a frenetic offering.
