German metal has always claimed a part of my soul over the years, perhaps it is because I am over half German by heritage. Stuff like Scorpions, Kreator, Destruction and even Warlock have been some of my favourite music over the years, and that is why Germany is a shining light for me... now here comes Complex 7. A Progressive Metal band that also has shades of Thrash and even some heavier elements thrown in... I am in heaven.

This five song album can make you see just how far metal has evolved in Germany in the new millennium. Each track on the album stands out as a near masterpiece of metal, but yet the whole thing is more than just that. The album simply called "c7.09" comes all together to make a thing of beauty, power and talent.

Complex 7 comes across as a very heavier versions of Dream Theater meeting Power/Thrash gods Testament then adding in some Porcupine Tree sort of artistry into it... yet the album also very much an original entity that you cannot pin-point. This album is something to celebrate... the closest that I could ever to getting a final sort of explanation for what Complex 7 does musically is to say that it is extreme metal meets overwhelming talent and adding in a virtuosity.

If you are getting a little tired of the whole ‘Extreme Metal’ thing, but still want to enjoy the strength and intensity that makes up that style of metal... I say go on line right now and by the album from Complex 7. This is a band that the whole world needs to hear... and hear while being played very loudly.
