Review by Anna on September 29, 2010.

Where did I put my noose? I almost died of depression listening to this album just to write this review. That should tell you this is some heart-heavy, mournful shit. This is definitely some of the best Death/Doom available. Totally undid all the “progress” I made lately. Now I have no choice but to expose myself to sunlight and Reggae music for the next few days in order to recover. Watch some cooking shows or something.

This album has a texturally rich sound, pleasing riffs, and good song-writing- it’s simply quite beautiful. Though maybe it’s cause I couldn’t process it anymore but towards the end I felt it was a bit long-winded. Agony becomes an endless stream of undeserved whining with some of these bands, the best example being Swallow The Sun, whose early sound can be heard here. I also felt at some parts that the music did a little too much “explaining”.

But- all that doesn’t matter. Bottom line is, this is a good album. Check this out if you love Death/Doom.
