Review by Anna on September 7, 2011.

This is the third full-length from Australian Sludge/Doom outfit Clagg. Their formula is simple- crushingly heavy guitars, thundering drums, powerful phlegmish vocals delivered at a steady and sometimes lethargic pace.

There’s groove with a slight “apocalyptic” tendency, but my main “takeaway” from this is the presence of Clagg. The feeling I get is that this is a band with clear intentions, with a clear idea about who and what they are. I sense that artistically, they’re not doing anything for anyone but themselves. There’s a sense of power and fearlessness.

I do feel there’s a little room for improvement- perhaps more variety or to simply fine-tuning things. Otherwise this is pretty solid. If you’re into this style of music, you might want to check this out.
