AHHH... gotta love it when you find very straight ahead, no bullshit metal to warm your steel heart and make you feel alive. I finally heard this little project of Ex-GWAR bassist Todd Evans (he played one of the Beefcake the Mighty’s) and I found that I cannot stop listening to it.

Let me first say that I love GWAR and have for many years, but Mr.Evans’s Mobile Deathcamp blew my mind from the first note. It is far from what he did with GWAR, and shows just what he is as an artist. Combining devilishly ingenious Thrash with down to basics Traditional Metal while adding a Pantera sort of vibe. It becomes clear what direction these guys are coming from. This trio explodes out and grabs you by the family jewels, giving you some nasty metal that seems to move and shape at will.

Ten bone jarring, headbanging inducing and horns-in-the-air needing songs with 26 minutes offered to us hungry masses of Metalheads, and we need to accept this gift. Mobile Deathcamp's "Black Swamp Rising" may not be very long but these songs pack a punch that would make a young Mike Tyson jealous. They are nasty and in your face Thrash using the straight forward might of the traditional to blow minds of fans and critics alike. Songs like the infamously titled 'Negative Minds', or the pure tempestuousness of 'Vicious Smile' put that point home.

I am glad that Todd Evans has put this masterpiece out for us all. This is truly amazing stuff, and made itchy for another album to scratch my metal needs. It was clear, that he was not let play to his potential in GWAR. The boys from Antarctica are good but for Mr.Evans, this is the music that he was born to unleash on the drooling masses. Mobile Deathcamp is a true blue metal machine.
