Getting an album from a band that has split up already, is odd and is professionally awkward as well. It can be a pleasure in some instances, but still it is hard. Extreme Deformity hailing from Hungary is one of those ‘split-up’ outfits that I have been charged with. Let us all see just what they have left us with since the band’s demise.
Playing what is clearly straight ahead Death Metal with some very odd Grind Core leaning in some parts Extreme Deformity (AKA Strong Deformity) delivers some very aggressive and very violent music, but there is a down side - what it sounds like. It is raw, unrelenting and... uninspired.
Songs like 'Forgotten Thought' and 'Confusion Of Thoughts' are nasty heavy and about as cuddly as a razor blade... but theses songs as well, as the others, lack any strength or direction to it. It seems uninspired and clearly rushed from start to end - despite the band seemingly having a lot of talent hidden somewhere deep in the music itself. I hear it, but it never sees the light of day.
It is sad to see a band that has this sort of potential, and who has simply never used it. A fact that many bands have done the exact same thing. I could be so malicious with the rating here but because I hear some threads of a band with loads of talent lurking behind the scenes, I will be truly respectful of what the band possibly was going for in the first place and not what had been recorded.
