Germany’s Wizard has been a force on the European Metal scene since 1989, carving a place for themselves in the metallic world with a mixture of power and fierce metal- yet they are basically unknown here in North America except for serious collectors and headbangers. I had heard a few albums over the years, and was impressed... lets see what their next offering gives
this Canadian thrasher to ponder.
Channelling old school Power Metal with some shadings of Traditional Metal, Wizard commands you to listen, and makes you do just that. With a passion that is refreshing as well as inspirational, this band exudes what it is to be deemed metal and wears that moniker proudly. They are true metallists.
The proof of what this amazing band can offer, just listening to either 'Taste Of Fear' or the explosive 'Messenger Of Death'. You will become a believer, a supporter and a true fan of this band in one fell swoop. With melodic power, old styled lyrics and this level of musicality that is beyond many band’s reaches - Wizard gives you no bullshit and in your face metal that begs to be heard.
How to describe in simple terms what Wizard is, its clear for me to do so. They may be old school metal but they teach many other acts just how it is done. Simple but expressive, strong yet technical, honest and fun. The band is just this and more. Can’t ask any more in any band and these guys deliver. This honest passion for the music is something that makes every headbanger raise the horns in salute - Wizard does not compromise. That is the spirit of metal.
