Bookakee – sounds familiar but somehow seems misspelled. On the other hand, originators of that name write their stuff with bunch of slashes going in all directions - so who knows how is it actually spelled. From what I've heard, it is a fun activity that man from the whole village can participate in and it gives everlasting memory for the whole group. Getting sidetracked here, let's go back to the music because Whorrific is like multiple shots onto, or should I say, TO the face.

Bookakee deal with brutal death metal mainly but there are progressive elements to be found in it, some technical death, some grind and black metal and even some jazzy stuff that should in no way work out - but yet it does. All those elements are not just thrown in but more so incorporated deliberately and delivered with such ease that it is simply jaw dropping. I recommend this album for everybody to check out simply because I don't think there's anyone like this out there. What you’ll find is combination of styles, musical ideas, delivery of the songs and most importantly, the passion for music - are something that those guys generate in every song on this album, and all of them songs effin' crush. Which reminds me, when I looked at the song list and saw 15 songs I didn't think I would last through all that in one sitting (speaking from previous experiences), but with Whorrific not only I stayed for the full run, but pressed play immediately after finishing the first spin. That should tell you how much is going on over here. There is so much music on this CD that some lesser bands would make three albums out of this material. Another thing that looks awesomely good is artwork. It's not just music that is packed with ideas with that one. Cover art is just a fragment of the whole thing and only by going through the full booklet you can discover where those images come from. Pictures of the band are a completely different story, and I believe that if more bands put such an effort into the look of their CD, it would give more people a reason to by actual product not just download the songs. Just a thought.

Bookakee and myself spent some time together but I know already that I'll be returning for more. I'm like one of those villagers I've mentioned at the beginning, that experienced fun evening and now memory of good times haunts him every hour of next day. Bookakee guys have done for me something that not to many bands done before. They've embedded Whorrific in my mind and I want to experience the fun again.
