Does anyone remember when Metallica released the MTV video of "One" from the album ...And Justice For All? A bunch of Metallica fans started throwing hissy-fits about how Metallica sold out. I thought those fans were being pretentious. Well, I've learned something: they were right. This is like the difference of Ministry doing Every Day is Halloween in dance clubs to a few years later when their industrial guitar-bashing music incited so much fan violence that they would tour with 4.5 meter chain-link fences in front of the stage. (But reverse the chronolgy of that analogy - Ministry got cooler, Metallica got gay.)
