Review by Adam M on June 24, 2025.

This album was important for the band as it was revolutionary and allowed them to bring their sound to the mass market.  It was very unique sounding.  This album showed the band had promise and allowed the band to do greater things in the future.  It is an album that starts and ends strong and is rather timeless in nature to make a big impact.

The musicianship on the work is strong with excellent guitars and high-pitched vocals.  The singing was revolutionary at the time and highly influential to the rest of the albums.  All in all, this is a tightly performed album with first rate musicianship.

If there is a flaw to be found with the work, it does not act as the most metal album ever, but rather something more progressive rock in style.  It is an album that has all the elements to make for a standout release and something that is timeless and essential listening.

The work is very important and instrumental in the uprising of metal over the years.  It is a fun and memorable album all the way through and very essential listening overall.  Fans of the band’s material will like it as will fans of the early Black Sabbath material.  This is a quintessential listening experience.
