This is a good album that is a bit darker and a very noteworthy album in the band’s discography.  The songs are atmospheric and interesting and have a great deal of presence to them.  There is an alternative feeling that builds upon the band’s previous work nicely and makes for a very strong addition to the band’s discography.

The musicianship is very bleak and moody and shows the band progressing in more mature directions.  Songs like “My Twin” are very mature and developed nicely over previous ones.  The mood is reflected nicely in the dark flavour of the album.  It has the right combination of elements to make for a very interesting release.

The problem with the disc lies in the fact that it is not as developed interestingly as previous releases and this makes it less compelling.  Still, there is a good amount of variety and this makes the disc compelling and interesting.  It is one of the better ones the band has put out, but not as consistently thrilling as Last Fair Deal Gone Down or Viva Emptiness.

All in all, I liked this album and it has the right amount of new elements to make for a thrilling new entry into the band’s discography.  It is very thoughtful and compelling and has the right degree of maturity for the band at this point in their discography.  It is yet another gem in their long line of great albums.
