MB Premiere: HAND OF KALLIACH - 'Solas Neònach'

The name HAND OF KALLIACH, comes from the legend of the 'Cailleach', a Scottish witch god of winter - and in mythology one tale holds that she sleeps at the bottom of an enormous whirlpool in Corryvreckan, off the western isles of Scotland where John's family is from, arising to usher in winter.

HAND OF KALLIACH's music focuses on dual concepts of benevolence and malevolence, all against the backdrop of the history, mythology and land/seascapes of the Scottish islands.

Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, husband-and-wife duo delivers a powerful sound from the contrast of Sophie's ethereal vocals to John's harsh gutturals, and the dynamic surrounding instrumentation. Intense distorted guitar and bass tones ground the music while haunting melodies and motifs break through the wall of sound.

John comments: "We are delighted to be releasing the new single 'Solas Neònach' from our upcoming debut album Samhainn. Scottish Gaelic for 'a strange light', this song is about the coming of winter, the loss of youth and the rapid passage of time. While lyrically melancholic, the track is musically aggressive, defiant and even darkly uplifting in parts, blending a range of metal styles with our melodic Celtic influences. It is an atmosphere we have worked to build into the full album, and we are very pleased with the results, and hope it continues to resonate with fans."

HAND OF KALLIACH's full-length debut album, Samhainn, will be released on October 22nd, 2021 via Trepanation Recordings.

HAND OF KALLIACH is:

Sophie Fraser - Vocals, Bass
John Fraser - Vocals, Guitars, Drums
