TOP 19 of 2019 - By Szymon
2019 is fast approaching the finish line and it's time for some year-end round-ups, but since we all have different music tastes and favorites, this year we're going to do this a little differently. Instead of one MetalBite year-end list, each of our staff members will present his own individual list based on his own criteria, preferences or whatever else stroke him fancy, we don't judge.
And without further ado, here's the Top 19 from Szymon.
19. Non Opus Dei – Głód
18. Exhumed - Horror
17. Cult Of Luna - A Dawn To Fear
16. Monolord - No Comfort
15. Waste Of Space Orchestra - Syntheosis
14. Gatecreeper - Deserted
13. This Gift is a Course - A Throne of Ash
12. Abbath - Outstrider
11. Entombed A.D. - Bowels Of Earth
10. Firespawn - Abominate
9. Hocico - Artificial Extinction
8. Wolfbrigade - The Enemy: Reality
7. The Picturebooks - The Hands Of Time
6. Blut Aus Nord - Hallucinogen
5. Tool - Fear Inoculum
A big disappointment for some, for me another Tool album that brings exactly what one could expect from the band. Only the naive expected a second "Aenima". I appreciate that Tool stayed true to themselves.
4. Candlemass - The Door To Doom
The return of Candlemass with the original vocalist Johan Längquist is not only playing the sentiments related to the cult "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", but above all a very decent dose of doom metal of the highest quality. Only Candlemass can play this way.
3. Mayhem - Daemon
Maybe Mayhem no longer wants to experiment like on "Esoteric Warfare" or especially "Ordo Ad Chao", but the simplification of the sound came to the Norwegians - in my opinion - for good. "Daemon" is the band's best album since the sensational (and probably slightly underrated) "Chimera".
2. Gaahls Wyrd - GastiR - Ghosts Invited
Gaahls Wyrd appears to be one of the most interesting and at the same time seeking characters in the Norwegian black metal scene; "GastiR - Ghosts Invited" is his most thought-out and mature work. God Seed is dead, long live Gaahls Wyrd.
1. Mgła - Age Of Excuse
Mgła remains in their chosen style, and together with "Age of Excuse" again proves that it is not only the best Polish metal band (sorry, Behemoth), but also belongs to the absolute forefront of world's black metal. Wonderful album.
